Châteauneuf du Pape - Vieux Télégraphe 2023
Vieux Télégraphe is one of the purest and most sophisticated expressions of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Sourced exclusively from the La Crau plateau, this wine rests on a terroir of rounded pebbles ("galets roulés") that provides unique mineral strength and salinity. Dominated by Grenache (80%), with Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault, it stands out with a noble nose of deep red fruits, licorice, pepper, and "garrigue." On the palate, its power is balanced by aristocratic elegance: the tannins are silky, the body is dense but never heavy, and the finish is phenomenally long. An exceptional wine for aging, capable of lasting decades, it represents the pinnacle of the southern Rhône Valley.

A Balance of Strength and Freshness Vieux Télégraphe rejects the trend of over-extracted wines, prioritizing soil character and tannic finesse.
-
La Crau Terroir: Located in the east of the appellation, these vines (65 years old on average) draw energy from an exceptionally deep layer of pebbles over a red clay subsoil.
-
Classic Winemaking: Partial de-stemming, fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and wooden vats for 25 to 30 days.
-
Long Aging: The wine is aged for 20 to 22 months in 60-hectoliter French oak "foudres." This wood contact refines the structure without adding vanilla or oaky notes, preserving the fruit's brilliance.
