The Art of Blending: Edition 173
Created around the 2017 harvest, a year marked by significant climatic contrasts, this 173rd Edition illustrates the unique expertise of the House Krug. To compensate for the lower yields of the year, the Chef de Caves called upon a rigorous selection of reserve wines (making up 42% of the final blend), drawn from the precious library of the House.
Each glass tells the story of parcels chosen for their unique character, offering a complexity that a single vintage could never achieve.
Tasting Notes
-
Appearance: A deep golden color, animated by fine and elegant bubbles.
-
On the nose: Enchanting aromas of freshly bloomed flowers, ripe fruits, gingerbread, and almond paste. Hints of candied citrus add a brilliant freshness.
-
On the palate: A silky and ample texture. Flavors of hazelnut, warm brioche, honey, and stone fruits are present. The finish is incredibly long, supported by a saline minerality typical of the great Champagne terroirs.
Food & Wine Pairings
This gastronomic champagne enhances the most refined dishes:
-
Starters: A citrus scallop tartare or Jabugo ham.
-
Main Courses: A cream turbot, Bresse poultry with morels, or warm oysters.
-
Cheeses: A aged Comté or a 36-month-aged Parmesan.
