Mondeuse Arbin "La Noire" 2023 - Domaine Genoux
The "La Noire" cuvée is the dark jewel of Château de Mérande. Sourced from very old Mondeuse vines planted on the densest red clays of Arbin, it embodies concentration and nobility. True to biodynamic principles (Demeter), this cuvée stands out with a purple, almost black hue of rare intensity. The nose is profound, blending wild black fruits (blackberry, elderberry) with notes of crushed black pepper, liquorice, and graphite. On the palate, the structure is impressive: a fleshy, sappy texture supported by tannins of great distinction. Despite its power, the wine maintains the mineral vibration typical of the cliff's limestone scree. A great wine for aging—complex and distinguished—it sits among the absolute elite of Savoy wines.

The Soul of Old Vines "La Noire" is aptly named: it is a wine of concentration, where the naturally low yields of the old vines offer a textural thickness unique in Savoy.
-
Terroir Selection: This cuvée comes from sectors where the red clay is richest in iron, giving the wine its deep, sanguine character and phenomenal aging capacity.
-
Biodynamic Energy: Like the entire estate, "La Noire" benefits from the Demeter approach. The absence of chemical inputs and natural winemaking (indigenous yeasts) preserve all the wild energy of the fruit.
-
A Long-Aging Legend: Tighter than La Belle Romaine in its youth, this cuvée is built for time. It gains complexity and silkiness after 5 to 15 years in the cellar, evolving toward notes of truffle, oriental spices, and noble leather.
