The Art of Blending by Marc Darroze
If the vintages Darroze celebrate a unique terroir, the range "Les Grands Assemblages" celebrates the talent of the cellar master. For this 20-year cuvée, Marc Darroze has selected complementary eaux-de-vie from the best estates of Bas-Armagnac. The goal? To marry the structure of the tannins from the wood with the aromatic richness of traditional grape varieties.
20 Years of Aging: The Time of Fullness
Twenty years spent in the darkness of the Landes cellars have allowed this armagnac to lose its alcoholic vigor and gain in smoothness. The prolonged contact with the pedunculate oak has transformed the primary aromas of grape into a complex tertiary bouquet. It is at this age that the famous "Rancio" (notes of nuts and underbrush) begins to express itself fully.
The Signature Darroze: Authenticity Guaranteed
Like all creations from the house, the 20-year blend adheres to the strictest purity standards:
-
No excessive reduction: To preserve the strength of the terroir.
-
Zero additives: No coloring (caramel) or sugar is added. The dark, deep color is the natural result of time.
-
Rigorous selection: Only eaux-de-vie from Bas-Armagnac, the most renowned area of the appellation.
Tasting Notes
-
Color: Deep amber, intense coppery reflections.
-
Nose: Rich and generous. Immediate notes of dried fruits (prune, date), candied orange peel, followed by hints of gingerbread and precious woods.
-
Palate: Soft and silky attack. The palate is enveloped by flavors of vanilla, licorice, and cocoa. The tannins are melted, offering an almost creamy texture.
-
Finish: Endless, marked by notes of leather and roasted nuts.
