Based in Avize, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, Domaine Jacques Selosse has become a global icon under the leadership of Anselme Selosse, now joined by his son Guillaume. More than just an estate, it is a school of thought that advocates for observational viticulture, close to nature, and unique winemaking inspired by traditional methods (oak usage, controlled oxidative aging, and the Solera system). With only 8 hectares of vines primarily located in Grand Cru plots, Selosse produces wines of unparalleled complexity, texture, and depth. Every bottle is a quest for truth, offering a sensory experience that transcends typical Champagne standards to touch pure emotion.
The Selosse style is incomparable. It breaks away from industrial standards to restore Champagne's status as a "Fine Wine."
The pillars of Selosse's expertise:
Instinctive Viticulture: Anselme Selosse was among the first to plow his soils, drastically limit yields, and seek total phenolic ripeness, whereas the region often prioritized technical acidity.
Oak Aging: Fermentation and aging take place in barrels of various sizes (Burgundian barrels, foudres), providing a patina, aromatic richness, and a unique vinous structure.
The Solera System (Lieux-Dits): The estate is famous for its "Lieux-Dits" collection, where reserve wines are blended using the Solera (perpetual) principle, creating a bridge between vintages and staggering complexity.
Low Dosage: To avoid masking the terroir's vibration, dosages are extremely low (Extra-Brut) or non-existent, allowing the wine to express itself in its noblest, raw form.
