List of products by brand Domaine des Terres Dorées - Jean-Paul Brun
Based in Charnay, in the southern Beaujolais, Jean-Paul Brun is a visionary winemaker who has consistently moved away from trends. Since 1979, he has championed an unadulterated vision of wine, favoring indigenous yeasts and limiting sulfur. Unlike the traditional Beaujolais method, he vinifies his wines in the Burgundian style (destemming and long fermentations), providing his cuvées with exceptional structure, elegance, and aging potential. His wines, whether from the southern limestone soils or the schist and granite of the northern Crus, are admired for their aromatic purity and crystalline precision.
The Craftsman of Gamay and Golden Stones
Jean-Paul Brun's estate spans about forty hectares. His style is defined by a quest for absolute finesse, seeking to express the purest fruit possible while highlighting the unique minerality of each terroir.
A Singular Winemaking Philosophy:
-
The Burgundian Approach: Jean-Paul Brun often practices total destemming, resulting in wines that are finer, seemingly less tannic but deeper in structure.
-
Respect for the Fruit: No chaptalization, minimal sulfur, and very moderate use of oak. The goal is to let the grape variety (Gamay, but also Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) speak of its soil of origin.
-
Terroir Diversity: He works both the Jurassic limestone soils of the south (Beaujolais l'Ancien) and the prestigious granitic terroirs of the northern Crus (Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie).
Jean-Paul Brun's wines are often described as "vibrant" and "digestible," offering an elegant and serious alternative for lovers of great terroir wines.
